I'm sorry to hear of Mr. Irby's passing. My mother was great friends with Margaret growing up. Mama spoke highly of both of them.

    Edward C. Irby, Sr.
    July 26, 1924 - June 19, 2021

He loved Kenbridge, Buggs Island and every pond in Lunenburg and Nottoway counties almost as much as he loved his three boys, their spouses. grandchildren and great grandchildren; his many extended family members and friends.  And through it all, he loved his wife, Margaret who predeceased him.

Of course, fishing, antiques, poker, bridge, gin, hearts, and a good box of chocolates always blurred the lines between like and love.

He was very proud to have had the opportunity along with his brothers to be Army Strong during WWII -- and we all take pride in the service to our country that he and his brothers made.

Following in his Dad's footsteps he served as the Banker of the Town for many years; taking early retirement in order to fish and work his antique business.

Ned said to many that when his time to go came he just wanted to be put in his boat and pushed out.  We cannot honor it quite that way; but there will be a brief and simple graveside service in the Kenbridge Cemetery at  2PM on Wednesday, 6/23.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Lunenburg Health Service -- which his father was instrumental in founding  -- may be sent to PO BOX 121, Victoria, VA  23974 or online to www.lunenburghealthservice.org
