Roberta was a very kind, loving and beautiful mother. Though she was not my mother I always felt a closeness to her as she treated my sisters and me like we were hers. Her home was always so warm and filled with love. My heart is sad but happy she is in heaven dancing with Buck. They were such a loving couple. Rest in peace Roberta. Much love.

Alma Roberta Evans Buchanan, 94, of Richmond and formerly of Lunenburg, Va. went to be with the Lord and her loved ones on March 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Jackson Evans and Merle Coley Evans; her husband of 57 years, Hawthorne C. Buchanan; and her brothers, A. Monroe Evans and Charlie A. Evans. She is survived by her loving children; William Vernon Buchanan and wife Charlotte Meadows of Charlottesville, Va, Barry Wayne Buchanan of Naples Florida, Randy Birkner Buchanan and wife Mary of Quinton, Va, Deborah Coley Buchanan and husband Bobby of Henrico, Va; her grandchildren, Angela Wood (Marty), Jennifer Merino (Christian), James Buchanan (Jessica), William Paul Buchanan, Jean Buchanan, Brooke Withrow (Kirby), Evan Withrow and Jake Buchanan; two great-grandchildren, Bria Merino and Shayla Merino. Roberta graduated from Victoria High School in 1942 and worked at Camp Pickett during WWII. She was a charter member of Bon Air Christian Church. She was adored by family and friends, admired by all that knew her. The family wishes to thank the dedicated caregiver, Zavonda Parrish for her care and devotion to our mother. We love you for taking GREAT care of her. She loved you very much and you will forever be a part of our family. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Victoria Christian Church from 1PM until start of services at 2PM Interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria.
