Mothers can be so special and when they are special, it is evident in the special people they give us. So, because you are special Larry, it stands by my reasoning that your mum was special too. I'm certain you will miss her and your mother son talks. Your brother by another mother, Phil

She will be truly missed by both her nephew and family. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal... but love leaves a Memory that no can steal.

Larry and Lana, we are all so glad that we had the opportunity to know and spend time with Geneva, even though it was some time ago. She was a sweet lady and an accomplished one. We are thinking of you.

She was a patient, kind lady with whom I had the pleasure of working for at the Dutch Treat Restaurant when I turned 16. She was a joy to work for and I learned so much as her employee. May she rest in peace.

Geneva G. Powell, 91, of Victoria, Va went to be with her lord and savior on Dec. 11, 2016. Geneva was the former owner and operator of the Dutch Treat Restaurant and Banquet Hall, Victoria’s 1994 citizen of the year, past president of Ladies auxiliary VFW post 9954, member of Victoria Chamber of Commerce and Victoria Baptist Church. Geneva loved to garden and interior decorating. She is survived by her son Larry Powell (Lana), granddaughter Tracy Soble (Eric), great-grandson Jake Soble all of Richmond, Va, sister Corene Knicely and beloved niece Sheila. Memorial services will be held Sunday, Dec. 18, at 2pm in the Staples Funeral Home, Victoria. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to United Methodist Family Services of Virginia, 3900 West Broad Street. Richmond, Va 23230.
