We pray comfort of Lord for Mary and rest of family as you grieve. Ophelia was a dear friend of my mom and we still enjoy quilts that Ophelia made for us. Ophelia had even visited us in SC. Ophelia was a sweet, hard working woman. Wayne and Robyn Mustain

Ophelia will be truly missed. She was always there whenever my mom needed anything. Mom thought of Ophelia as family and a lot closer than some actual blood-related family members. God has taken her home now to reunite her with Mom so they can talk together for eternity.

I was sorry to hear of Aunt Ophelia death. She lived a very long life and now with her family. Thinking of all of you. I am her sister O'Dell daughter. There are only two of us left, Elnora Duffy and myself. prayers to all. Elnora is in a nursing home in West Virginia, she is 90. I live in Drakes Branch with my nephew Raymond Hudson and I am 81.

Ophelia Powell Lacks, 104, of Victoria, VA went to be with the Lord and her family in Heaven on April 12, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Lacks; her parents; her brothers; her sisters, and grandchildren, Roger Wayne Roark and Sheila Lacks Joyner. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Hodges Lee, Susie Roark (Earl), Josephine Daniel (Luther), Pam Scott (Ray); her sons, Bernard Lacks (Gladys) and John Lacks (Ellen); 13 grandchildren; devoted great-grandson, Trey Hodges and 12 more great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; nephews, David Powell (Helen) and Carlton Powell. Ophelia retired from Burlington Industries after 33 years as a weaver. She enjoyed sewing, farming, gardening, riding her four wheeler and spending time with her family. The family wishes to thank Hospice and Home Health for their devoted care. A special Thank You to nurses Tammy and Sharon. The family will receive friends Saturday April 15, 2023 from 6 to 7:30 at the Staples Funeral Home in Victoria. Ophelia was a member of New Life Church of God, 1600 Norfolk Avenue, Victoria, Va where funeral services will be held 2PM Sunday, April 16, 2023. Interment in the Lacks Family Cemetery, Saxe, VA. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the New Life Church of God.
