Wallie Samuel “Sammy” Adkins, 80, of Blackstone, VA went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah A. Havens; his parents, Lemuel Thomas Atkins and Pattie Pruitt Atkins and siblings, David Atkins, Christine Barnett and Ivene Rhew. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancye Griffith Adkins; his son, Jim Ray Gregg (Cindy) of Crewe;
his daughter, Louanne Phillips (Billy) of Amelia; 7 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ernest (Mae), Paul (Judy), Noel (Brenda), Lawrence (Gail) all of Crewe and Eddie (Shelby) of Burkeville; his sisters Josephine Coldiron Young of Burkeville and Linda Jean Coghill (HB) of Crewe. Sammy retired from Reynolds Metals maintenance department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and lifelong member of 49ers Hunt Club. He loved to spend time at home with his family and he loved his church. He was a devoted member of Gospel Baptist Tabernacle Church (1031 Main Street, Kenbridge, Va)  where the family will receive friends Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 1PM until start of services at 2PM.
